Santa Dash December 2016
The whole school took part in this year's Santa Dash. We were very fortunate to have special guests to open The Santa Dash...The Smith Brothers!... who joined in with the fun wearing festive jumpers and encouraging all the runners to complete the course. EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 took part, covering different distances depending on age.
Our Sports Leaders 2016-17
As a keen advocate of all types of sporting activities in our school we are interested in developing young Sports Leaders. The idea is to create role models and ambassadors, and to develop pupils who can assist in clubs, sports days and lunchtime activities in order to promote sport across Year groups. Meet this year's Sports Leaders...
P.E. and School Sports at St Robert Bellarmine Primary School
P.E. in a variety of forms is promoted in school throughout the year. We aim to teach all children to be able to swim at least 25 metres by the end of year Six. Children follow the Physical Education programmes of study in the National Curriculum. Football matches are regularly played against other schools and different teams represent the school in a wide variety of local sports tournaments. Children are also encouraged to join a variety of after school sports clubs such as football, dance, rugby and cricket. A full programme of fixtures ensures that as many children as possible have the chance to represent the school during their time at St Robert Bellarmine.
Swimming is an important life skill as well as an enjoyable sport. In July 2016 over 75% of Year 6 pupils could swim a minimum of 25 metres front crawl by the time they had moved on to Secondary School, which also contributed to our success in the Swimming Gala.

Primary Sports Funding
The government has allocated Primary Sports Funding to all primary schools with the aim of improving the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, increasing participation in PE and sport so that all children develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of. In the academic year 2013-14 we used the funding to improve the quality of teaching in PE and to promote lifestyle choices that will contribute to pupils' well being. This programme has been continued into the academic year 2014-15.
Our current PE and sports premium allocation for this year is £8900.
Primary Sports Funding is continuing for 2016/17 and this year's allocation is £9090.
All children from Year 3 get an opportunity to attend swimming lessons during curriculum time. The progress of the children is reported termly and the children are closely monitored.
In 2014, 75% of Year 6 children could swim a minimum of 25 metres by the time they left for secondary school.
In September 2014, 59% of the Year 6 class could swim 25 metres.
