PE LTP 2018-2019

2019-2020 Sports Leaders

Two children from each class are chosen to be 'Sports Leaders' and are responsible for helping to organise and implement sporting events throughout the school year. The Sports Leaders provide excellent encouragement to all children during the 'Santa Dash', which everybody thoroughly enjoys. They also assist with a diverse range of activities during 'Healthy and Active Fortnight', including: Football, Athletics, Multi-Skills, Gymnastics, Dance, Scooters, Go Karts and Zumba. They help to run stalls at the Christmas and Summer Fayres and do this with great dedication and commitment.

The first task for the Sport Leaders was to work with their year group peers to select a sportsperson for their class. The leaders had to engage with their classmates to select the person and then with the help of the class teacher encourage the class to research their sportsperson to find out facts that could then be displayed in each classroom.

The adopted sports people for this year are:-

Nursery - Lewis Hamilton - Motor Racing

Reception - Ellie Simmonds - Swimming

Year 1 - Sir Andy Murray - Tennis

Year 2 - Katarina Johnson-Thompson - Athletics

Year 3 - Callum Smith - Boxing

Year 4 - Laura Kenny - Cycling

Health Champions - Active Sefton came into school to work with 12 Year 5 children who were to be Health Champions.

To begin with there was a whole school assembly where making healthy choices at lunchtime were discussed. The next week the Health Champions worked tirelessly during lunchtime to reward the whole school with stickers for making healthy choices. At the end of a very successful week Active Sefton returned to award prizes to some children who had made healthy choices each day. Well done to our Health Champions and to the whole school. The healthy lunches in Nursery were amazing!

Healthy Lunch Box Week.

The Health Champions worked with Active Sefton to reward children for the healthy swaps they made at lunchtime. The children and parents made a fantastic effort and all of the children were rewarded with a sticker.

Santa Dash - the Sport Leaders created posters to display around school to advertise this event.

The Sport Leaders worked incredibly hard before the Santa Dash helping set up the course for the school to use. During the Santa Dash they were so kind and thoughtful encouraging and helping the younger children to complete their laps. Sport Leaders you were amazing and a credit to our school. Thank you!

St Robert Bellarmine Christmas Fayre

The Year 5&6 Sport Leaders also ran a stall at the school Christmas Fayre, their stall was 'Pin the nose on the Snowman.'

The four children were confident, polite, helpful and extremely organised. They had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility of running their stall.

All of the children who took part received a sweet and those that managed to pin the nose accurately were rewarded with a Christmas chocolate lolly.

All of the staff were incredibly proud of these children and visiting adults also commented on how well they organised themselves.

Congratulations again Sports Leaders, what a busy day you had!
