Complaints Procedure

At St Robert Bellarmine Catholic Primary School, we value the positive relationships we have with our pupils, parents, carers and wider school community. We aim to provide the highest standards of education, care and support for every child.

We recognise that, from time to time, parents and carers may have a concern or may wish to make a complaint. We take all concerns and complaints seriously and aim to resolve them fairly, respectfully and as quickly as possible.

Raising a Concern

In many cases, concerns can be resolved quickly through an informal conversation.

If you have a concern about your child's education, wellbeing or experience at school, please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. They will usually be best placed to discuss the matter with you.

If the matter cannot be resolved informally, or if the concern is of a more serious nature, you may wish to raise it with the Headteacher in accordance with our Complaints Procedure.

Making a Formal Complaint

If your concern has not been resolved informally, you can make a formal complaint.

Our Complaints Procedure explains:

  • how to make a complaint;

  • who will deal with your complaint;

  • the stages of the complaints process;

  • the timescales involved; and

  • what you can do if you remain dissatisfied.

Please read the full Complaints Procedure before submitting a formal complaint.

Complaints About the Headteacher or Governors

Complaints concerning the Headteacher should be addressed to the Chair of Governors.

Complaints concerning the Chair of Governors, individual governors or the governing body will be handled in accordance with the arrangements set out in our Complaints Procedure.

Correspondence can be sent via the school office and will be forwarded to the appropriate person.

Matters Covered by Other Procedures

Some concerns are dealt with under separate statutory or school procedures and therefore may not fall within the school's general Complaints Procedure.

These can include matters relating to admissions, suspensions and permanent exclusions, statutory SEND processes, staff grievances or disciplinary matters, and safeguarding or child protection.

Please contact the school if you are unsure which procedure applies to your concern.
