#kNOwKnifeCrime

As a school we are always looking for opportunities and ways to educate our pupils on how to keep themselves safe. We have decided to team up with #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign and London Marathon 2024 and we will be fundraising for bleeding control kits and cabinets for outside our schools in Sefton. We want to keep our community safe and be well resourced in the event someone needs medical assistance.

Our school came together to complete a mini-marathon on the school grounds while representatives from Year 5 and Year 6 took part in a relay race with other Sefton schools.

Easter Celebrations

Year 6 got fully involved in our annual Easter Bonnet and Gardens competition. The entries were fantastic - well done everyone!

World Book Day

Year 6, along with the rest of our school, wore green for World Book Day today! We are reading 'The Wild' by Yuval Simmer to remind us to care for our common home.

We also shared our favourite books with the class and recommended them to each other.

Equality and Diversity Assembly

Year 6 presented their learning so far this year linked to Equality and Diversity for their parents and the rest of our school. They finished their presentation with an African drumming performance and were amazing!

Trashion Show

Year 6 loved every minute of the Trashion Show! They strutted their stuff like professionals on the catwalk! We do this every year to remind ourselvse of the importance of reusing what we already have and to highlight the issues with fast fashion.

Science Escape Rooms

Year 6 had a fantastic afternoon working together to crack the code! They used their scientific knowledge to solve each of the clues before finally getting to the end. They worked well in their teams and had great fun doing so!

Spanish Cultural Morning

Year 6 had a fantastic time working with Senorita for their Spanish Cultural session! They made Spanish Carnival Pancakes. They learned that Carnival is usually held in February or March, with the dates depending on the year, although some places even hold them earlier. The festival is noted for humour, parodies and costumes in the streets of Spanish towns and cities, which all have their own traditions.

Western Approaches - History Trip

We spent the day at the Western Approaches museum in Liverpool to find out more about the part Liverpool played during World War 2.

The museum exists today because Combined Operations moved to Derby House at Exchange Flags because German aircraft and U-boats were attacking ships travelling in from the continent. The department became known as Western Approaches Command as it monitored Western Approaches, the rectangular area of the Atlantic Ocean lying immediately to the west of the British Isles. Liverpool subsequently became an important strategic position in the Second World War.

School Mass

Year 6 helped Fr Faustinus to lead our whole school in a Celebration of the Eucharist. We carried out readings, took part in the offertory procession and led the rest of the school in singing the hymns. It was a beautiful morning.

Other Faiths Week - Judaism

Year 6 visited Childwall Synagogue during Other Faith's week. They were joined by Year 1 and learned all about Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and about the many wonderful and interesting symbols associated with the Jewish faith.

We also tried some apples with honey to signify the sweet new year that begins during Rosh Hashanah.

Remembrance Collective Worship

Year 6 joined together to hold a Collective Worship and two minute silence for Remembrance day.

Odd Socks - Friendship Fortnight

We proudly wore odd socks to school on the last day of Friendship Fortnight. We wanted to remind ourselves that we are all proud to be different and unique!

Art - Mixed Media Collage

Inspired by Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Year 6 created mixed media collages based on their own lives and memories. The quote, 'God gave you a fingerprint that no one else has, so you can leave an imprint that no one else has,' was central to the work as each child made their collage individual to them in their choice of images, colours and design.

Maths - Efficient Methods

Year 6 sorted and classified a range of calculations into the most efficient ways that they can find the answers. They worked in groups to decide if they could use a mental, formal or jot method to calculate. They also used counters to represent examples of how they can add numbers up to 10,000,000.

History - The Vikings

Year 6 had a fantastic day working with Altru Drama to learn and perform a 'Play in a Day'. Each child played a part and not only did they develop their acting skills, but they also developed their knowledge of the Vikings!

Hello Yellow - Mental Health Awareness

Year 6 joined in the fun on Friday and wore yellow to school. This was so we could raise awareness about looking after your mental health. As you can see from the smiles on their faces, they had a lovely day! We talked about the importance of looking out for our mental and physical health and explored some of the things that we can do to help.

Get Away N Get Safe Workshop

James Riley (The Gangs Man) visited Year 6 for a week of workshops to help them be Brave and Confident at all times. They learned about the importance of keeping themselves safe and not being drawn in to making poor choices.

Hokusai Mission Display

For our Mission Display this year, Year 6 studied the work of Japanese artist Hokusai. They recreated his work, 'The Wave' to represent how our school mission statements can help guide them through the year.

School Council Elections

Democracy has been in action! Our Year 6 children voted for their councillors who will represent them this year. Well done to everyone who put themselves forward!

Feast of St Robert Bellarmine

The children from Year 2 to Year 6 attended mass to celebrate the Feast Day for St Robert Bellarmine. This mass also gave us the opportunity to join with our parish community to begin our year together.

CAFOD Workshop - Catholic Social Teaching

All children in our school enjoyed a workshop led by the wonderful volunteers from CAFOD Liverpool. Year 6 learned about Catholic Social Teaching as the keys to help us follow the light of Jesus.
