Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

We hope that you and your families continue to stay safe and well. We cannot believe that this is the final week of term. We know that the last few months haven’t been easy but we want you to know how much we appreciate all of your hard work. The children have been so resilient and continued to work to the best of their abilities and this wouldn’t have been possible without your dedication and commitment. Thank you all so much.

You will see this week that we have not set the usual maths and English work. The reason for that is because during this time of year, we mainly focus on transition work and preparing the children for their new schools. Therefore, you will see that we have created three activity mats based on transition for the children to work on this week. We would be really grateful if you could talk to your child about their work and also access the link to the page we have set up called ‘Moving from Year 6 to Year 7’ as this will offer more support. We have provided additional activities and quizzes for the children and have explained that it is up to them which of these they choose to complete once they have finished their transition mats.

As you are aware, we are all upset that we cannot have the usual end of year celebrations this year but would like to thank you all for emailing the photographs and video clips of the children to us. Hopefully they will enjoy watching the videos that we have created. We are really looking forward to seeing the children on Wednesday in their socially distanced bubbles for our special Collective Worship. This will allow them to say goodbye and to collect their memorabilia.

Before we leave you, we would like to say that we are so proud of your children for their maturity during this difficult time and for the memories that we created together, before and during lockdown. Each one of them is special to us and I am sure you will all agree that they have excelled during their time at primary school. We know that their new teachers are extremely lucky to be welcoming such lovely, hardworking and dedicated children in September and we will miss them all so much.

Thank you all once again for your support, emails and phone calls during recent months and for ensuring that your children continued with their education whilst at home, we really appreciate it.

Take care and stay safe.

Have a lovely summer break and please enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Love Mrs McQuiggan and Mrs Johnson xx
