Message from Mrs McQuiggan and Mrs Johnson

Hello Year 6,

We hope you and your families continue to stay safe and well and that you managed to spend some time relaxing over the bank holiday weekend.

As you all know, this week should have been a very different week than the one we are experiencing right now! Our classroom would have been bursting with both nerves and excitement each morning as you entered to take your KS2 SATs. Instead, it remains empty and is really missing you all! However, we wanted to remind you that although you are unable to sit your exams, your effort and determination have not gone unnoticed. You have all been so resilient, dedicated and hardworking not only over the past year but during your whole school journey. We know that you were all excited to sit your SATs to show the progress that you had made from KS1 to the end of KS2 but please remember, we already know the amazing progress that you have made and are so proud of each and every one of you. Your parents are extremely proud of you too. However, most of all, you should be proud of yourselves.

Now, before we begin to cry, let’s move on to our class email. Thank you to those of you who have been in touch and shared work with us, it has been lovely to see what you’ve been up to.  For those of you, who haven’t yet emailed,  remember you can get in touch with us using the email address Y6@strobertbellarmine.co.uk – even if it is just to say hello.

The activities for your work this week include Philosophy questions, Maths, 4-a-day, Problems of the Day, SPAG, English, RE, PSHE, Geography and Science.  In addition, as usual, we have also added some extra activities that you might like to complete.

Well done for keeping up with your reading. Remember, reading for around 20 minutes each day makes a real difference.  Many of you are now accessing the online library Epic! Reading (https://www.getepic.com) and I can see that you have been continuing to enjoy a whole range of books and watching some of the videos too. Epic! Reading emailed me again last week to say that our class has earned another badge! Well done children, keep up the hard work!

A couple of you have emailed us to ask for your login details for Sumdog. If anyone else needs theirs, please email us and we will send your username and password so that you can login. On Friday 8th May, Sumdog launched its ‘National Numeracy Contest’ and this will run until 8pm on Thursday 14th May which some of you might like to enter. As a class, we need at least 10 entries to be in with a chance of getting onto the leaderboard.

Thanks again for your tweets, we really enjoy seeing them. Please continue to try to tweet any work that you are proud of. Don’t forget to use the handle @StBellarmine and #Y6SRB.

We continue to miss you all so much. Thank you all once again for working hard and a huge thank you to your parents who are doing a wonderful job supporting you, we really appreciate it.

Take care and stay safe.

Lots of love,

Mrs McQuiggan and Mrs Johnson

xx
