Easter Bonnets/Gardens

We had absolutely amazing Easter bonnets and gardens. Everyone has worked so hard and they are all absolutely beautiful so well done! Huge well done to our two winners! Also, well done to our two raffle winners who won a chocolate hamper each!

Geography - Continents and Oceans

We have been learning all about the continents and oceans on our planet. We have learnt about the human and physical features of our planet. However, we have also learnt that there are some things about our planet that aren't so good. We are sending out a message to help protect our planet Earth.

Comic Relief - Mad Hair Day

Thank you for your support and generosity for Comic Relief. The children absolutely loved their mad hairstyles. A lot of time and effort went into creating amazing styles!

Science - WonderDome

We were lucky enough to have a mobile planetarium in our school. We learnt about the planets, sun and stars. We also learnt about the first people to visit the moon. We counted down from 10 - 0 and we blasted rockets up the moon. We had so much fun!

PE - Biggest Ever Football Session

We celebrated and showed our support for girls' football by taking part in the biggest ever football session today. We practised lots of skills, took part in challenges and even had a penalty shoot out against Miss!

PE - Football Tournament

Our Year 1 boys played as a team for the first time in a football tournament. They were a credit to our school as they worked hard, they were polite and they showed great resilience. Well done boys, we are so proud of you all!

Shrove Tuesday

We celebrated Shrove Tuesday by having delicious pancakes in school.

RE - Church

We attended Church for Friday Mass. Father spoke to us about the importance of having friends, being a good friend and always looking after and supporting your friends. We promised we would be good friends going forward. We also loved looking at the beautiful details of the Church building.

Geography - Continents and Oceans

At home, we created a geography project about the continents and oceans of the world. We have been learning all about this topic in school so it was great to show off what we know. We put a lot of time, effort and knowledge into our work and they are now proudly displayed in our school corridor. Well done everyone, you should be so proud of your projects!

Design and Technology - Trashion Show

At home, we recycled old clothes and materials to create new items to wear for our trashion show. We made bandanas, dresses, t-shirts, hats, skirts, vests etc. We absolutely loved walking the catwalk in front of the rest of the school. How amazing do we look?

PSHE - Children's Mental Health Awareness Week - Inside Out

For Children's mental health awareness week, this year's theme is Inside Out. We have been exploring what mental health means to us and how we can look after ourselves and others. We have explored how to manage our own emotions and feelings. We have been lucky enough to be able to watch clips of the movie Inside Out and discuss the different emotions. We have also completed some activities that we think help our mental health such as playing outdoors, doing yoga and colouring. We even wore our clothes inside out!

English - Supertato

In English, we have been reading the story of Supertato. We have produced amazing work including wanted posters, story sequence, character speech, caption writing, shopping lists etc. We also designed, created and wrote a character description about our own Supertato. They were brilliant and I think this was our favourite part of English so far in Year 1!

Art - Mixing and Creating Colours

In Art, we have been exploring colours. We began by exploring the three primary colours. Then we learnt about mixing primary colours to create secondary colours. We added white to blue to create lighter shades of blue and we added black to create darker shades of blue.

Christmas Party

We loved wearing our party clothes! We had a fantastic disco in the hall full of singing, dancing and party games. We had a special visitor to our class and we enjoyed our delicious party food!

Christmas Jumper Day and Santa Dash

Year 1 loved wearing their Christmas jumpers to school. We were also fantastic in our Santa Dash. We ran, danced and sang to Christmas music on our playground. We had the best time!

Fleece Force Nativity

Year 1 and Year 2 performed a fantastic nativity of 'The Fleece Force'. We worked so hard to learn all of the songs. We hope you loved the beautiful singing!

PSHE - Friendship Assembly

During friendship fortnight, we have been filling people's buckets by doing kind things. We don't want to be bucket dippers, we want to always be kind, helpful, polite people and make other people happy by doing and saying things to fill their buckets. We made buckets filled with love and happiness. We all thought of something we can do or say to fill people's buckets and we read them out during our friendship assembly. We hope you enjoyed our beautiful song and performance. Kindness is the way!

English - Storybarn

We had a fantastic day at the Storybarn in Calderstones Park. We enjoyed reading stories, making bookmarks, dressing up, playing games and going on a discovery hunt. Despite the cold weather, we had an amazing day!

Children in Need

We dressed in our pyjamas and made generous donations to Zoe's Place. We learnt all about children in need and the kind things we can do to help and to look after others.

RE - Synagogue

As part of other faiths week, we have been learning all about Judaism. We visited Childwall synagogue and learnt all about the symbols, festivals, people and places of the Jewish faith.

Design and Technology - Levers and Sliders

We made our own pictures with levers and sliders based on one of our favourite stories, Room on the Broom. We loved exploring our designing, cutting, drawing and colouring skills to create our fantastic moving pictures. We had a brilliant morning thanks to Steph!

History - Black History Month

October is Black History Month. We have been learning about Bessie Coleman. We have learnt lots of interesting facts about her and we created a timeline of her life. We think she is an amazing person and she is an inspiration to others!

Science - Seasonal Change - Autumn

In Science, we have been learning all about the seasonal changes from Summer to Autumn. We have explored the weather, clothing, day length and changes we can see to our environment. We went on an Autumn walk around school to hunt for different signs of Autumn. We ticked off items on our list when we found them. We even found things that weren't on our list!

PSHE - Hello Yellow

We wore yellow to raise awareness about mental health. We spoke about our emotions and how important it is to talk about them. We found ways of making us feel calm and happy both in school and at home. We completed some calming activities to help us relaxed and feel happy.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We loved raising money for Macmillan by buying cakes during our coffee morning. We learnt all about Macmillan and how they help people to get better. Thank you for all of your generous donations.
