"Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead."
1 Peter 1:6
Mrs Davies and Mrs Parkes would like to welcome you to our Year 1 class page for 2020-2021. Our aim is to keep you informed of things that are happening in our class.
Children In Need
We held a collective worship and prayed for children who need support during difficult times. We wore our pjyamas to raise money for this good cause and families were extremely generous once again with their donations. Thank You!
We gathered to observe a two minute silence On Remembrance Day. We said prayers and payed respect to those affected by conflict and talked about wearing poppies because these were the flowers that grew on the battlefield after World War 1 ended.
Give racism the red (or blue) card!
Year 1 gave racism the red card! We learned about Black History month and talked about how some people are treated unfairly because of the colour of their skin. We all know how important it is to stand up and say no to racism.
We held a collective worship to give thanks for the harvest and to thank God for everything we have. we also thanked our parents who were extremely generous in their donations.
Design & Technology
We made pivots and sliders in DT based on the book we are reading 'Room on the Broom'. We had a brilliant morning using lots of skills!
We raised awareness of mental health by wearing yellow and discussing ways in which we can have positive mental health. We supported the charity Young Minds and reminded ourselves that we are never alone, there is always someone to talk to.
We had a cake sale to raise money for Macmillan. Thank you boys and girls for your very generous donations! We also held a collective worship to pray for people who need support.
We have loved our PE sessions in Year 1!
We gather every day for collective worship were we give thanks and say prayers.
Completing a mile a day is so good for us!
Our Mission Display - We Are God's Work of Art
Our mission display asks big questions - Is the world big enough for everybody to share? Do you have to be similar to be friends?
