Year 4

Welcome to Year 4: Mr Seeckts' & Mrs Sutton's Class  blush

2014-2015

Summer Term

General Information

The school day starts with registration at 8:55.

The children need to have their book bag in school every day along with their reading book, homework diary and spelling sheets.

The children have the opportunity to buy toast for 10p at break time on a Monday and Wednesday.

Dinner money is payable on a Monday. Please could you ensure it is brought in an envelope clearly labelled with your child's name and class and the amount of money it contains.

Homework

The children are expected to read with an adult at every night and have their homework diary signed. Please spend some time discussing the text with your child: the characters, the setting and the plot to further their understanding of the text. On completion of their book the children should complete a short activity from their reading journal. Again this would be of great benefit if the activity could be shared with you.

Spellings are given on a Monday and are to be practised daily in preparation for the test on Friday.

Times tables will be given daily and are to be practised in preparation for the test on Friday.

Most weeks the children will receive a piece of literacy and a piece of numeracy homework which are always due in for the next school day.

Any other work the children need to complete at home, along with the work above, will be explained in their homework diaries. Please feel free to comment in the diaries about the homework as all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Swimming

The children will have swimming on a Thursday afternoon. Both boys and girls will need a swimming cap.

Brass Band

This year the children will have the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument. These lessons will take place on a Friday afternoon. The children are now allowed to bring their instrument home to practise, providing a consent form has been signed. However, your child must bring the instrument into school every Friday for the lesson.
